How PopEx rounds results and formats numbers consistently.

Overview
Population Explorer standardizes number formatting to ensure clarity, comparability, and usability across exports and dashboards. All rounding follows deterministic rules, and all separators follow international readability norms.
Rounding Rules
Population totals: Rounded to nearest whole number.
Density: Rounded to 1 decimal place.
Area: Rounded to 2 decimals.
Ratios: Rounded to 2 decimals.
Income: Rounded to nearest hundred.
Separator Rules
Thousands: Comma (12,345).
Decimals: Dot (12.3).
Exports: Locale-neutral CSV with “.” decimals and “,” thousands.
Why This Matters
Consistent formatting avoids misinterpretation across global teams and ensures reproducibility in exports and reports.
